Hong Kong Five Senses

Ten years after Hong Kong's return to China, this coastline city remains as vibrant and unique as ever --- blending Eastern and Western culture with a beauty, energy and idiosyncrasy one can hardly find elsewhere. Hong Kong Five Senses visits this cosmopolitan city through the eyes and feelings of two French residents. Caroline Bouquet's pastels, Chinese ink paintings, watercolours and collages underline a Hong Kong full of contrasts, where traditional meets modern. Laurence Huret's words send us on a spinning voyage of colour, smell, sound, texture and taste, all happening in Hong Kong.

Caroline Bouquet first discovered a passion for painting while in Egypt. Mother of four, Caroline has been living in Hong Kong for 8 years and has worked as a private fund administrator. Caroline studies Chinese ink sketching with Professor Chan Kee Suen and has had various watercolour and mixed media exhibitions in Hong Kong and China.

Laurence Huret, a barrister, has lived in Hong Kong since 1997 with her husband and four children, and also spent several years in Beijing and Bangkok. Active in the community, she was previously an elected member of the Council for French citizens abroad. She is co-author of the guidebook, Settling in Hong Kong and Macao.
